Help with my Amp (buzzing)?
I am a guitarist and pianist, and recently i bought a yamaha keyboard synthesizer and decided that before i spend money on speakers to play it through, i'd try playing it through my Crate GTD65 amplifier. Last night, i tried it, and it worked fine, but when i tried it this morning, the amp made a loud buzzing sound when I connected the patch cable to the keyboard (even when the keyboard was off). And yes, i made sure i was playing through the clean channel.
I tried running the keyboard to a very old, small Squier and it worked fine without buzz, and i also tried running an older keyboard through the crate amp, and that didn't buzz either.
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how i can get rid of this annoying buzz.

I assume that you have made sure the patch cord is ok? Usually buzzing like this is caused by grounding issues......either a bad cord or the keyboard being grounded differently than the amp. Often you can get around this by plugging both the amp and keyboard into the same outlet. I'm a little surprised thet the buzz was there even when the keyboard was turned off.....that makes me more suspicious of the patch cord.
Our keyboard player recently bought a very expensive new keyboard....I think it's a Yamaha but not positive. He also had bad buzzing and solved it by cutting the power cord so it would plug in to the wall backwards. If you have a polarity switch on the amp, that would be a safer and easier way to go. Good luck...buzzes can be real annoying and hard to isolate.
