How do you plug a [musical] Keyboard into a computer?
I have a Yamaha keyboard, and I want to know how to plug it in my computer, but I lost my manual, so now I don't know how, and I need help!
there are 2 ways. MIDI and Audio
with audio you use the headphone or amplifier socket on the back of your keyboard and plug it into the Line In socket on your computers soundcard.
this will record the sound coming out of your keyboard.
with midi you use a MIDI cable from your keyboard to the MIDI socket on your soundcard, your keyboard may have come with this cable if it has midi (not all keyboards do). this will record which notes you are playing (pitch) and how long you hold them for (time) rather than the sound. the advantages of midi are you can change the sound, the instrument patch you play through and edit any mistakes
if your keyboard is fairly new it may have USB, which i havn't used to connect a keyboard before so try to download a new manual from the yamaha website
