Yamaha CVP-87A Clavinova Home Electronic Keyboard $750.00 |

Is a Clavinova a piano or a keyboard?
Although technically a Clavinova is a keyboard, it sounds and feels like a real piano.
Which is it therefore considered - a piano or a keyboard? (I am referring to Yamaha Clavinovas)
Many thanks in advance!
A Clavinova, a term Yamaha coined for its digital pianos, is an electronic instrument. Most of Yamaha's Clavinovas use a key action similar to a regular piano. The keys are the same width and legnth, and they press down the same distance. They also have counter weights on the inside behind the pivot point to simulate the feel of a hammer striking a string.
However, the sound is not made by a piano hammer striking a set of 2 or 3 strings like a regular piano, but reproduced from samples (short recordings) of a real piano. Yamaha, Casio, Roland, and Korg all do a very good job at sampling a piano's sound cycle so that it seems like you are striking strings of a real piano.
