Whats the difference between an Arranger and a Workstation, and also a Synthesizer?
I basically want a keyboard whch is fully capable of studio recording, live playing, and should be very handy in every sphere!Which nes better Roland V Synth or Fantom, and the difference? Moreover there are others like from Yamaha(Motif, Tyros)....the difference again?...Im CONFUSED, please help me out!!
Basically I'm a M.C.A graduate, sound engineer & instrumet player, along with my family i've done many albums in our own studio .we use vsynth, yamaha psr3k workstation, boss rhythm arranger,& sampler for the skeleton of a tune. i can tell you 1 thing, if you are really a good player in piano. you may good to go with yamaha motif or tyros.they were different kind of workstation keyboard's which cosists all types of instruments that are available in real world.sound modeling technology is the heart of yamaha TYROS,which displays everything on 3D 3" TFT SCREEN & shows what a instrument would have & allows you to experiment with modeling.you can fine tune a sound of any insturment & have more than dozen options to mix with , you can also mix up with other sounds to create a innovative sound, it is the yamaha's flagship workstation. it is very expensive. i want to buy this one but i cannot afford to pay that much money. it costs 7414 US $
nearly 3,70,000+ Rs/- in our country, and while coming to the difference between arranger ,workstation & synthesizer.
an arranger is just like a beat bank on a keyboard. using the drum patterns and presets you can compose a drum track separtely.and it also used with other instruments to synch with midi. and also with an arranger you can replace a drummer on a live show.
a workstation is a instrument which allows you to experiment with the sounds i.e you can model the sounds by adjusting the individual orchestration part. like editing drum patches, replacing kits, changing voices etc.
a synthesizer is looks like a keyboard, it will oscillates the sound waves in different waveforms and produces a variety of sounds by generating and combining signals of different frequencies.they dont have any built in speakers. you must have monitor speakers to connect.if you are good in playing piano then consider this, otherwise leave it.
