Is a Casio CTK-710 61 Key Keyboard compatible with firewire?
I know from experience with my friend's keyboard that a usb keyboard can sometimes lag with music programs when hooked to a computer...I'm curious if this particular keyboard can be used with a firewire cord...
No its not - There are no firewire keyboards (that I know of at least). If a keyboard appears to be lagging when using music software on a PC it is almost always a problem with the software and not the keyboard.
For example in FL Studio (And most music production software), the default buffer is 2048 samples which will appear to lag when using *any* keyboard. Using a lower buffer (256 samples or less) will stop this from happening.
If the software supports it, install Asio4All which is a sound system which greatly reduces latency times for audio production.
The CTK-710 will likely need a MIDI to USB adapter. I have a CTK-601 with one and it works brilliantly!
