What do I need to create and edit music on my computer?
Hi, I know how to play piano, but don't know much about electronic devices.
What software and music keyboard do I need to compose music on my computer (I know you dont necesarily "need" a keyboard but I want to get good results). I would appreciate any help. Thx.
the easiest way is to get a "home studio" program that is midi-capable and use the "piano roll" window. As far as a keyboard, I use a small, 2 octave midi-controller made by m-audio, but you can use any keyboard with midi in/out connections ( I use Cakewalk Home Studio to write/play into.) You can check out some freeware, shareware, and demos at http://www.tucows.com . You can look at midi-controllers vs. keyboards at http://www.guitarcenter.com .
Oh yeah. If your computer soundcard does not have midi in/out you will need a new soundcard. Sorry. I use an external one connected by firewire but they also make USB versions that work just as well.
