Problem connecting Yamaha Keyboard to MIDI on iMac?
I have a Yamaha PSR-275 Keyboard and an iMac with UX16 MIDI interface. I hooked it up and it comes on, you can send signals from computer and its recognized. However, I can't get the keyboard to do anything in Garageband or Finale. I have tried different things but don't know if all my settings are right. What is the correct way to do this, install, etc?
From what I can gather from the keyboard manual ( http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/port/PSR275E.pdf ) you shouldn't need to configure anything there, unless you're hearing double notes, which is not your problem.
Configuring midi for Garageband ( http://www.apple.com/support/garageband/ ) is explained at the bottom half of page 97 of the "getting started" manual ( http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/GarageBand_3_Getting_Started.pdf )
Finale has a help page that answers your question, but they don't seem to have an online manual.
