After going thru one or two expensive Logitech wireless keyboards that need batteries ( I am actually hard on them and type like I am playing Mozart ) I decided I still needed the quiet keyboard, which was wired, and the lighted KB was a bonus. It is quiet and I took mine home for midnight e-mails without turning on all the lights. Logitech makes the best KBs.. What a relief! 
When I bought this keyboard after doing a lot of research on my end, I decided I wanted an illuminated one as it is dark where I work and I presumed it would be a cool feature and it is. Squinting at my old keyboard each morning was getting to my old eyes and did nothing for my disposition. Since I acquired the illuminated Logitech keyboard I am able to sit down with my first mug of joe and a pleasant glow under every key. So much easier on the eyes! No more strain, no more squinting, and I wouldn't exist without it. 
I have owned many keyboards in over Twenty-five years of keyboarding and this is the best yet. My child is getting one for Christmas this year and I would suggest this wonderful product to everybody. I need the additional light and it delivers a beautiful illumination in low or no light settings. Got a parent who computes? You currently have the greatest present of the season at a small cost. I even acquired a backup so I might never be without my Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. Maybe I should live long enough to see a wireless keyboard with such great lighting. 
This keyboard is outstanding; if you spend a significant part of your day typing. I was blown away at the weight of the keys, meaning the stroke is firm though not too firm. As others have mentioned it is almost silent when typing. Another person said it nearly makes you want to keep typing, that's true, I find myself enjoying typing emails with it rather than dreading doing the typing.
