How can I get my 3 week old to sleep in her crib?
I've literally tried everything. I'm very afraid of SID's. I tried making sure she was sleeping, have tried putting something with my scent in there to help her sleep, have tried music (which she loves), made sure she was fed, burped, and changed before she sleeps (just to make sure it wasn't something else causing her fussyness and even have talked to her, swaddled her and anything else I can possibly think of. The only thing that keeps her asleep is mommy and daddy holding her in bed. I can't sleep because I am afraid she will not wake up. She doesn't sleep in a bouncy or anything like that. Can a by the bed be a safe alternative to preventing SID's. I want to do what makes her happy but keeps her safe. Any advice. Oh and she doesn't stay on her back. She either rolls on her side or back on her stomach. Please help if you can. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My baby used to be like this. When he was 3 weeks old, the only way to make him sleep is to hold him or let him to stay on our bed. I was like you - afriad of SID and can't sleep. That was when I decided to move him back to his crib (his crib is in my room at that time.)
Try to rock him to sleep then put him back to his crib. It was very hard at the begining. He will wake up frequently since he wants to sleep with you. It took me about 1 week to let him getting used to sleeping by himself. Just try to be firm on it. Always put him back to his crib. Baby is very flexible - especially he is still very young. It's better to correct this than later. It will get harder when he is getting older.
My baby is 3 months now. He sleeps in his own crib and his own room. He has been sleeping over night for quite awhile. I was so worried about everything when my baby was born. I ensure you it will get better and better. You will enjoy the motherhood more and more. Good Luck!
