What kind of morons take infants and toddlers to a 3-day outdoor rock festival?
Seriously, who does that? Could they not find a sitter? At least it was a Christian event and not OzFest or something. Isn't it dangerous for kids that little to be exposed to the sun and loud music and big confusing crowds like that? What if they got lost? Or trampled in the mosh pit? Or sunburned? Or deafened? Or just plain scared by all of the commotion?
Or am I overreacting? I don't have kids, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. But it seems like a dangerous place to have kids that young for a lot of reasons.
I agree with you. My fiance and I go to this huge music Festival every summer, and every year I am shocked to see parents bring their young kids to this thing. I mean, its not Oz fest but there is alcohol and hippies dancing around drunk..its a folksier type festival and we have fun but the environment is for adults to enjoy. There is no shade, so its in direct sun, with live music all day and I see babies and toddlers there all day long..what are these people thinking? I have a 2 year old and would never bring her to this event, I understand its good to socialize but there are more appropriate places for children where they are not exposed to ear deafening music and heat exhaustion.
True story: We live in the Metro area and there is this huge fireworks show July 10th with leftover fireworks from the big NYC Fireworks on the 4th of July. Since its such a big show, there is a carnival and the crowd is large every year so when you go you can barely move without bumping into another person. Two years ago, we went and within reach was this stroller in front of me. Inside the stroller was a baby, I estimated around 3 months b/c he was still in an infant carrier that attached to the stroller (my daughter was 5 months at the time). This poor child was left in the stroller screaming during the entire firework show (lasts around 30 minutes)..I just wanted to pick him up and cover his little ears..the sound of fireworks has to be painful to an infants sensitive ears. I felt so bad, this child didn't deserve such horrible parents! What was this mother thinking? It was around 10pm,there were so many people out and she did not even bother to put at least cotton balls on this baby's ears to somewhat cover the deafening sound of fireworks.
There are times and places when parents need to leave their kids at home, period. If a child is going to be put in harms way, why would anyone as a parent risk that? Some people just shouldn't be parents.
