I'm trying to get into some blues music, where do I start?
I'm trying to expand my musical horizons a little bit, currently I listen to a lot of progressive rock and death metal stuff but I'm trying to break away from my mold a little bit and learn some more about different music. If anyone can suggest me some good stuff it would be greatly appreciated.
I think the best course for you would be some electric blues like Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Winter. Maybe some rocking blues like the early Stones and Yardbirds. Early Allman Brothers, perhaps.
Then get into the Chess catalog....Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf. Also check out the King label with Bull Moose Jackson and others.
Go wherever it takes you. You may end up in the delta, where it more or less began, but I don't know if that is the best starting point.
